This will be the first time in... a long time that the Rangers go into the regular season with no rookies on the roster. I'm not counting Bickel because he is injury insurance and will not be in the starting 6.
If EC makes this team, then Torts is full of *****.
I dont know if EC will make the team or not but he does have some things in his favor.
1. He scored on a rocket of a shot yesterday.
2. His salary is only around $925k which could be important because of the cap.
3. One of the best shootout guys in the NHL. This team couldnt afford to lose any points last season or the season before. Some people may not like shootouts but in recent seasons shootout points/wins became very important.
Lol am I the only one that is a little nervous Erixon will threaten to go back to Sweden?
Don't think of it in a bad way. With our current defensive roster, he could find a way to sneak in mid season like McDonagh did last year. I wouldn't be worried.

1)He does this every year then disappears for 5 games, means nothing.
2)Won't help us because Avery costs us 1.9m ...if we could deal him there would be a strong argument to keep EC as an extra, but since Aves is untradable, it really doesnt matter.
3)BR, Wolski, and MZA are all good at SOs so this isn't a big deal.

Not nervous about him never making it, I think he will be up here no later then December, just when a player refuses to play for a team because he wants to go elsewhere, it can rub some people the wrong way on his attitude.
If he is alright with going to Connecticut then all is well, you just never know though. Hopefully it's more about him being a Ranger then an NHL player.

1. He still scores more than the other guy in the equation.
2. Isnt $925 more cap friendly than 1.9mill? Both players can be demoted to the AHL but which clears more cap space if demoted?
3. EC is one of the all time best in shootouts and sometimes shootouts go more than 3 shooters.
I'm not saying EC will make the team. I'm just saying I can see that EC does have some factors in his favor.
Maybe they should save Staal the stress of coming over to Europe, go with what they have, and see whats going on with him once they're back in N.A.
Yes, play it safe. Two games won't be a big deal. To be honest, I'd have kept Erixon for the two big-ice games where he would be efficient. Then send him down when he returns to the United States and gets replaced by Staal.

heard that before, does the name gomez ring a bell? I am not agreeing or disagreeing with you, avery is very difficult to trade because of his history with any team he has played on besides the rangers, however, he has grown up i think. At the same time he has played better than ec, so he should win a spot over ec, but avery is tradeable, just difficult
Unless Avery is on Torts' **** list, I don't see how he doesn't make the team. He fits into Torts system 100000000000000000x better than Christensen. Also with the Richards signing, the Rangers are stocked at center:
Richards
Anisimov
Stepan
Boyle
Newbury
Mitchell
Rupp can also play center. In my opinion Avery has been very noticeable in preseason. The only time I remember even hearing Christensen's name is when he scored that goal.
Basically Christensen's only useful asset at this point is in the shootout. With MZA, Wolski, Richards, and Hank, I ain't scurrred.

are they definitely playing on bigger ice? I thought they reduced the rink size to NHL dimensions
