When Andrei Markov is back in the line-up...

Do you expect our team to instantly become better or will his impact be unnoticeable/lacking.

I for one don't know what to expect one part of me hopes he comes back and stabilizes the defense (so that PK can relax and do his thing) and provide that extra jump on the pp that made us top tier in this league for so many of the last year.
However the cynic in me strongly believes we put too much hope/will that he will come back and instantly turn us into a contender.

Discuss..

Markov will start setting up cross ice passes to cammy on the power play and cammy will rip it home , I'm getting frustrated not seeing any1 look for him when his 1 timer release is the best part of his game .. Remember he scored 19 power play goals with Calgary. Cammy when first coming to mtl had lots of these goals . Last year and this year he's probably had like 5 .. Markov will boost cammy and our power play book it!

I think Markov will help right away but it will take him 3-4 weeks to get up to full speed.

There's no doubt that he will have to re-adjust but I think just having him in the line-up will be a confidence booster. If he eases into the game with 15 minutes a night at the beginning with powerplay time I think he'll make a real difference.

this. it'll improve the overall confidence of our defense and i don't know how vocal andrei is in the dressing room but id imagine it would give everyone a sense of comfort just having him back. I think his on ice play will take a bit of time as he hasn't played in awhile

I don't have the numbers, but the Habs record over the past 5 or so seasons with and without Markov is night and day. The stats are quite amazing actually.

So yes, I think Markov's return will have an immediate impact. He's our best skater hands down.

I expect our team to be way better. It's almost not even a question. A 50% Markov is better than half our roster.

Having a player of Markov's ability joining any team in the NHL/KHL would improve that team immensely he's a top six defender and only 32 years old.Lidstrom has won Norris trophies lots and Markov healthy these last few years might have garnered one himself he's that good.

He can't be worse than Diaz, Weber, Emelin or Gill can he?

Let's say Markov and Campoli return to form in Early December and there are no other injuries among the D, we have 9 NHL caliber Ds. JM, if he's still the coach, will have some tough decisions. He won't sit Gill and Spacek - they're vets and he doesn't sit vets no matter what. He seems to love Diaz (Diaz was on the ice in the final minute yesterday). For sure Emelin sits or is shipped to Hamilton or Russia (he's Russian and friends with AK).

So?

Markov-Gorges
Gill-Subban
Spacek-Campoli

Diaz - #7
Weber - #8

Certainly not fair to Weber who has been terrific this year although JM has never had a problem with sitting Weber or moving him to RW.

I do not expect much of a change and I fully expect him to only last 10 games max before suffering another season ending knee injury.

Traveling with the team isn't good news it just means he is on the road trip he will not see any action till mid Dec at the earliest.

travelling with the team mean he will practice with the team..better than skating alone.

I believe this to be false. Mid December is over a month away and he's skating now and seems to be on track for a short return. I think Mid-December is a worst-case scenario

He hasn't been cleared for any contact just skating with the team when he gets cleared to be hit let me know. I still say 10 games max before he goes down to injury again.

this

the amazing fact is not how much better we are with him, is that some here don't think we should have signed him...

If we're getting the classic Markov back, it will make an enormous difference... but really, none of us know what this incarnation of Markov will be.

Him traveling with the team isn't good news? Right.

Unless you work with the team you sound like a fool.

I hope your wrong, but the odds say you are closer to right .

Hope he can stick this time, but you just know the other team will be gunning for him ,as the last few times he got put out .

I also wonder with all these surgeries , if it made him any less mobile .
