FLYERS-DEVILS' 2010-11 SERIES RECAP AND 2011-12 SEASON SCHEDULE:
  • November 27, 2010 -- Travis Zajac scored the SO winner (2-1) in NJ's 2-1 home win. The Flyers led the shootout 1-0 when Nikolay Zherdev scored in the third round but Jason Arnott tied it. Johan Hedberg made 40 saves and was 3-for-4 in the shootout and was selected the game's top star. Danny Briere tied the game with a PPG midway in the third period. Philly held a 41-25 shots advantage including 28-11 combined in the second and third periods. The game totalled 10 PIMs. It was the second straight shootout loss for the Flyers in as many days leading Blair Betts to say “You can feel it (lack of passion). The atmosphere was light and there wasn’t enough emotion or intensity, even before we went on the ice. You kind of felt it yesterday against Calgary and it’s something we have to fix.” Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30S83syc1ds
  • December 4, 2010 --Mike Richards (1-1-2, +3), who scored the tie-breaking goal 3:37 into the third period, and Jeff Carter (1-2-3) were the game's top two stars in Philly's 5-3 home win. Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves including a key stop on Ilya Kovalchuk's breakaway with the score tied 2-2. Kovalchuk earlier scored his second goal in the past 17 games. The Devils' PP was 1-for-43 on the road but went 2-for-3 in this game including making the score 4-3 with 44 seconds to play. The Flyers' struggling PP went 0-for-3 and fell into a 2-for-41 slump. Philly dominated the second period 14-4 on shots and scored the lone goal to tie the game 2-2. In the third, the Flyers scored three times including Carter's ENG. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDtKOLfVz7I

  • January 6, 2011 -- The line of Danny Briere (2-0-2), who scored twice in the third period, Scott Hartnell (2-0-2), who scored twice in the second period, and Ville Leino (0-3-3) who had a career-high three assists, combined for seven points and were named the top three stars in the Flyers' 4-2 win at N.J. Hartnell's second goal tied the game 2-2 with 1:06 remaining in the middle period. David Clarkson gave the Devils a 2-1 lead with 2:20 left in the second period, a goal confirmed by video replay after play had continued. Matt Carle added two assists. Brian Boucher made 18 saves and improved to 8-1-1, with a 2.07 GAA and .929 save percentage in his last 10 starts. Each team had 20 shots, Philly had a 7-2 advantage in the second period and the Devils had an 11-6 edge in the third period despite being out-scored 2-0. The Flyers had just two PIMs while the Devils had eight. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgLr0HOwMPU

  • January 8, 2011 -- Brian Boucher made 34 saves and backed the Flyers to a home-and-home sweep with a 2-1 win in Philadelphia. James van Riemsdyk, the game's top star, and Danny Briere (PPG) scored first period goals. Johan Hedberg (8 saves, 10 shots) was replaced by Martin Brodeur who was a perfect 19-for-19 and earned second star status. New Jersey lost its 11th straight road game. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r61bBvAkYLo

  • January 22, 2011 -- Johan Hedberg made 26 saves and Patrik Elias scored twice in N.J.'s 3-1 home win. Henrik Tallinder (1-1-2), who made it 1-0, and Brian Rolston (0-2-2) also had two points. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz1RYsykhqs

Final preseason game. I'm looking forward to seeing Read/Couturier/Rinaldo. Oh and Giroux and Jagr lighting **** up.

I assume Bob/Bryz will split the game again?

Needs to get those numbers above pre-season Michael Leighton numbers.

I'll miss this. Apparently, there are other things going on in life other than the NHL preseason. Who knew?

No injuries, please.

Hopefully, there's a stream that doesn't suck total ass. That would be nice. Not counting on it though, since the team that is owned by one of the biggest internet conglomerates out there can't seem to provide a quality stream to anyone! Forget about folks like me who live outside of Philly, but it sure seems like the stream has sucked for the couple hundred people who were able to view it... and they live in Philadelphia!!!

He ruled himself out almost immediately after the game Thursday. It isn't due to a setback. He didn't want to play in the game.

I hope this isn't a game like the one in Buffalo last year where we fed a bunch of kids to the wolves.

According to Dave Issac, he quoted a Devils beat guy who posted our offical lineup:

Hartnell-Wellwood-Talbot
Rinaldo-Read-Couturier
Holmstrom-Betts-Voracek
Simmonds-Zolnierczyk-Testwuide

Coburn-Gustafsson
Lilja-Walker
Meszaros-Bartulis

Bryzgalov

We're ****ed. This is like the Buffalo game from last pre-season. Ugh.

Maybe Rinaldo will take out their whole team. Also, rofl at a Lilja-Walker pairing. That must go down as one of the worst pairings ever in the history of hockey.

This is a chance for Bryz to steal a game.

Let's see what he can do

I look at it as one final chance to see who the first call-ups will be. I am however confused as to who the 4th center is supposed to be.

Last year's was still much worse. We essentially sent the entire Phantoms roster out there. We sent our 4th line, with Meszaros and Bartulis and that was it.

That line up can't be right. Some of those players have already been sent down.
