Magnus Nygren

Habs 4th rounder playing for Farjestads, he's already scored 4 goals in 7 games as a defenceman. Never seen him play... those of you who watch the SEL, what are his chances of being a productive NHL player? Is his defensive player anywhere near good enough? What are the strengths of his game, mostly his slapshot?

His shot is as you said good. He kinda came from nowhere in the second half of last season and just lit the place up. His play of preformance last season was outstanding as well. He was certainly a surprise, at least for me. He's however not that fantastic defensivly even though he's not bad. He has good vision and is, as said before, a threat from the blue line. First pass and passing over all is good/decent. Kid certainly has potential.

At least he got qualities that stands out, like that elite slapshot, and overall good pp-skills. No idea if he will ever end up as a NHL defenseman but I like that kid. In the beginning of the season he has almost been Färjestads only offensive weapon. He have four goals, the next on the list have one goal...

I love this guy. He's like a more offensive version of Tim Erixon. Def think he can be a good NHL-defenceman.

I see a bit of NHL potential in him actually, but it's a long way to go. He definitely needs to work on his defensive and his physical game, even though it has gettin better. His offensive side is very good, as said he's got a very hard and accurate shot which is very usefull in PP. Also his skating is good. Reads the game well, good passer.

The Habs will have several D prospects turning pro next summer, so they could end up having him stay in Sweden next season before bringing him over for the 2013-2014 season, so he should have a good bit of time to work on his defensive game before coming to North America.
