Pick 1 Dallas Star

Entering an office pool, must pick 20 forwards 8 d-men and 2 goalies one player from each team and I'm stuck on a forward from Dallas.

Who would you choose?

ooh yha btw 1 NHL point is worth 1 point in the pool.

Ribeiro or Eriksson.

Ryder and Morrow maybe, but they're riskier.

Points only?

Ribeiro is the safest bet followed by Eriksson.

Definitely Ribeiro.

You can pick anyone? Doesn't have to be someone that someone hasn't picked? Definitely Ribeiro if that. If not then I'd rank them Ribeiro, Benn, Eriksson, Ryder, Morrow, Ott in that order.

And just because I'm bored, I'll do what I would have done in your situation if it was the former.

Forward.
1 Ovechkin WSH
2 Malkin PIT
3 Giroux PHI
4 Stamkos TBL
5 Kopitar LAK
6 Perry ANA
7 Ribeiro DAL
8 Tavares NYI
9 Datysuk DET
10 Carter PHI
11 Roy BUF
12 H Sedin VAN
13 Iginla CAL
14 Hall EDM
15 Skinner CAR
16 Thornton SJS
17 Heatley MIN
18 Weiss FLO
19 Kane CHI
20 Kovalchuk NJD

Defense
1 Weber NSH
2 Yandle PHX
3 Karlsson OTT
4 Subban MON
5 Pietrangelo STL
6 Enstrom WIN
7 Johnson COL
8 Phanuef TOR

Goalies
1 Thomas BOS
2 Lundqvist NYR

Ribeiro gets my vote too. I think he embraces that #1 center role again now that Richards is gone and has another 07-08 type season.

i'd put in an honorable mention for goligoski. he's the definite #1 pp qb who'll likely double shift on both pp units, so basically nabbing most of richards' pp production. not many d-men around the nhl play that much of their team's power play.

If it's only points though, I'd never pick a defenseman.

Goligoski probably has a peak of 65 points. Ribeiro, if he gels with Ryder and Morrow extremely well, could be well over 80.

I do like this post, though. I think he will have a huge year, and I can see him scoring 50+ points.
