Nah.

Just preseason.

Our defence core is sad though.

what a sad squad. no one looked good. cement hands. If brule doesn't get cut I don't know what to say. Can someone make a poll for who makes the squad at forward? I know that we'll keep brule and that maddens me greatly.

@JamesBond

getting guys like Sharp and Versteeg to compliment the picks were dumb moves eh?

It's kind of like Gillis who gets way too much credit. Burrows, Sedins, Kesler, Edler, Salo, Luongo, handed to him.

Samuelsson is 50/50. Cold and hot. SJ pretty much gave Erhoff away to him. Malhotra good signing. Ballard was a BRUTAL trade. When you don't play a guy like that in the Finals.....

Smid gone for at least a month according to Gregor.

Pathetic.

The Oil had no finish. THREE 2 on 1's in the first few minutes. Horcoff shooting two of them...

So after watching the defence tonight, my question in the other thread, should we claim Parent from Vancouver or Holden from Columbus?

I have no use for that guy when he is ALWAYS getting injured. Some guys just put themselves in bad positions a lot.

Ever since the whole MacLean/Burrows saga, rather attack, it's been hard to see where Vancouver's gotten anything from them.
You saw that as an attack ? Seemed like a whole lot of truth telling to me .... with video to back it up .
How did you feel about Burrows crying on national TV because the ref was mean to him ?

I really hope Tambi does something for our defense. I'm not convinced we're going to be selecting too high this year, and with an average to good defense I think we have a decent shot at pushing for the playoffs.

Pretty excited about our offense though. I really hope we can get a game in with the kid line, vet line and Swede line.

Yup. Defence is awful, even with the additions of Whitney and Smid, it'll still likely be bottom five. This will also affect our forwards as well, as they will be hemmed in our zone for long stretches.

Barker and Sutton are just awful. More genius by Tambo filling holes..

I know its early but jebus they're bad.

Potter is more useful than both of them combined.

Rant aside liked the games from RNH, Harti, Lander and Paajarvi.

Smyth and Horc were OK but a lot of effort and not much to show for it.

Eberle was awful tonight, just owned. Have to say Hall looked confused out there as well although the headshot certainly didn't help.

Anyway the team overall was fast and exciting and I don't care we scored only 1 goal.

This team has so many talented forwards right now its just fun to watch. "An embarrassment of riches" haha

Great times.

Whenever Horcoff has the puck on a 2 on 1 and has the chance to pass or shoot it, he should ALWAYS pass it.

I don't care if there is a wide open net, with the goalie laying down at center ice, and the entire opposing team, but the one defenceman, is on the bench. He'll find a way to screw everything up.

Holden for sure.

Parent is only an OK AHLer.

Holden is miles better at this point in time.

Nah, give the dude a little break. He did address issues at forward. Next year he will handle the defense. This season the fans should relax and enjoy the young team that will win a bunch of games and will lose more. See NYI last season.
Tambellini has set the bar higher and been fairly active this off-season. He does not deserve a free pass because he did not do nearly enough to address the defence. I've been pretty patient with the defence this off-season but the loss of Smid and Whitney's continued issues are badly exposing the lack of competent NHL depth. This team has plenty of promise, but no real results to show for it.

Even with whitney and smid penciled in the issues were still pretty apparent.

We had better be making a couple of claims on D then.

A few of the guys looked pretty good tonight. The "gritty Finn" has impressed me. Many looked lost out there though.

Other than that, me and Kevin Weekes are in the middle of a heated argument. I don't think an in-tact spinal cord is important for athletes but he seems to think it is. Help would be appreciated.

Well, after watching Festerling this pre-season, I would have said him, but he cleared and I don't want the Jets to lose him for nothing.

Hmmm......how's about signing Campbell and Huet to absurd deals which costs you guys like Versteeg, Ladd, Byfda;dlkfadn?

Tallon was terrible.

defence was bad to begin with....with Whitney and Smid gone, it's by far the worst in the NHL

I'd love to be able watch the kids score, unfortunately the puck will always be in our zone and never on their sticks

chalk up another fail for Tambo in not addressing our needs for real NHL d-men
