Why is Gagne the whipping boy?

Of Flyer Fans? He delivers consistently good defensive performances, while adding offense to a line sorely lackng it. He is an exellent penalty killer and gives 100% at all times. Why does he take a beating from the fans?

?
I don't dog him; I think he's great.
I think he'll wear an A this year.

[maybe that's why I made the 'minors' list?]

Gagne's the whipping boy? I don't know about that. Mabye some people are hard on him, but that's just because we expect so much of him. I don't think he gets that much criticism at all.

who said he was a whipping boy? everyone knows hes on the 3rd line for how many games? and he still pots 24 goals. He is our best defensive winger, hes got a awesome set of hands and he absoultly owns Marty Broduer.
should i go on? nothing is wrong with Simon Gagne, anyone who has issues with him should open there eyes.

Uh, wrong there guy. I can criticize Gagne's play because his play has been spotty at best over the past two years. While I will attribute the one year to being injured, the fact of the matter is that when he did play, his play was inconsistent in the offensive zone.

We need a scorer. We thought he had one in Gagne

package Handzus and Gagne for a top flight winger

Thornton wanted out of Boston. He would be excellent for Gagne. There is only one problem. In return for Joe, Boston would probably want Gagne plus some.

Gagne(make or break year)

I don't even think Gagne is fully back to where he was in his first 3 seasons

We should bring back Oulette for 2 first rounders and Gagne

Maybe the best thing for him is to play some where else. Point: last year an over the hill Messier had a better year. It's time the kid started putting up the numbers game in game out. He wants the big money get 35 plus goals and 75 plus points. 3.5 million for 45-50 points. Come on

If they would accept Gagne as the base of the deal I would be willing to negotiate

I'd trade Gagne straight up for Zetts

I really don't think Gagne is ready for a leadership role. He's a follower.

that's in the last two months. Yep, no gagne bashing here...

Gags is one of the few Flyers forwards I like. I wish he would show a little more offence but all in all I think he is 1st line material!

Gagne is awesome, he does everything.

I think some around here, myself included, get frustrated by his untapped offensive potential.

Gagne is untouchable IMO.

I would like to see Gagne take more of an offensive role on the first line. He has talent to score, and we have other guys that can play defense from a forward position. He needs to get first line time.

Some more tidbits:

He just needs to break out of his shell before Clarkie gives up on him.

If Datsyuk was offered for Gagne straight up I would do it.

if we want to win we must get more production from Simon Gagne.

I don't see why Johnsson or Gagne should even be considered. I'd give Roenick or Markov an A before i'd give either of them one.

they should consider benching Gagne because he hasn't scored

Oh,my I just found a gem....Sorry Cuiffitelli but i have to post this.

if gags gets first line time, he'll develope into 1 of the best 2 way offensive players in the nhl. i think he has zhamnov skills (offense, defence & all around solid positional play) and should be better too.

not the passer that Zhamnov is, but a better defensive player due to to the fact that he's got better wheels.

yeah lets package our 2 top defensive forwards, not named Primeau for a top flight one way player. that makes no scense.
If we traded Gagne and Handzus we will regret it. IMO

The only problem I have with Gagne is that hes a bit soft and injury prone. His play is great, and I in no way fault him for not putting up big numbers, because he is so well rounded and plays in a defensive system. He is a potential future Selke winner, IMO, if he can find that extra bit of grit.

well, if Lecavalier [I thought of him as delicate] could find a bit of grit [i.e. playoffs], then Gagne really should be able to.
I also think he needs more ice time in order to achieve this.
