Don't think so, unless the Pens are desperate for cap space? They want to win, and they give up the better players..

Wasnt brule waived? If he can't make the oilers the pens don't want him.

Brule cleared waivers today and would have to go through re-entry waivers and someone would pick him up for sure at 1/2 his salary. This trade will never happen due to this, someone isn't doing his home work.

Once again a proposal that makes Oilers fans look bad.

A trade b/w these 2 teams would probably be the opposite of this. A rebuilding team would give up roster help for picks/prospects, not the other way around.

I doubt the Oilers want to move a pick that's probably going to only be 5-10 spots worse than Pitt's 1st rounder and I don't think the Pens want to move roster players before the season starts.

Why would a contender like the Pens give up a proven young RH RW like Kennedy for waiver fodder and futures?

Junk for a guy who's still young and just broke 20 goals for the first time.

And take back overpaid waiver fodder and futures.

Why do we need a Pens-Oilers proposal every ****ing day? For the last ****ing time, Gilbert Brule has no place in Pittsburgh's line-up. We already have 16 NHL forwards on the roster (14 active and two on IR).

So basically the Pens trade Kennedy for a player we hope will produce like Kennedy some day, and Niskanen for a player we hope can one day be like Niskanen? And this is supposed to improve the Pens, how exactly?

I'd be happy to get Gilbert Brule if the Oil cannot utilize his skills.
PROBABLY the return for a waived player is not going to be our best RW though, less so one who has much scoring upside having never been given a chance to play with our best two C's and plays a great defensive game to boot.

But you can get Pascal Dupuis, to add some experience, PK'ing and consistent bottom6 scoring. Pens (Shero and Bylsma) would say no, but as a Pens fan I would say yes.

I am an oiler fan and have a hard time figuring out what some fans here are thinking. We are 2 to 3 years from being seriously competitive. We need to wait to see what we have and continue to take advantage of our first picks in the draft to get to where we need to be. Our D needs serious help and we need to see if dubnyk is the guy or not. Why we would make deals to make ourselves marginally better now is beyond me. We do already have too many prospects - or will soon. However the only kind of trades we can do are for guys that will grow with the club and have high value at needed positions - 2 for 1 kinda deals. We have to wait this out and see - if something comes along for a high level asset with growth potential then fine. We are good at forward. We just need D. Thinking like bogosian type players - young and have potential with teams that could use forward prospects. That's it.

I don't see Edmonton coughing up that much for a little bit of help in depth positions considering what that 2nd rounder could turn into.

Because he's a good young player with lots of experience who plays one of the postions they have least depth at plus is an RFA once his contract is up.

The Oilers have the least depth on the wings? Tell that to our defense, centers and goalies please.

That said, we give up our junk for upgrades? I guess so, the only hold up might be the 2nd round pick. We've been doing well with those the last few years.

RW depth isn't great, especially if they decide to shop Hemsky.

The only place that the Oilers have more depth is LW.

Hemsky
Eberle
Omark
Jones

Hartikainen (could play in the NHL now)
Pitlick (C/RW in the near future)

Plus Pajaarvi has played some rw this pre-season and looked okay doing it. I'm not worried about our RW depth, and don't see why the Oilers would need Kennedy. He'd fit Omark's spot better, but then we don't have a spot for Omark at all, and we still need to see if he can break out.
