I didn't see this done yet, so I thought we could make predictions on the pleasant surprise of 2016-17 for the Isles (and if anyone wants to turn this into a poll, feel free). We're predicting the player who most exceeds what we're generally expecting of them, and could include anyone (even JT). My vote:
There is a lot of unpredictability among the forwards, so I am going to go with a solid player who has the potential for more. With the entire defense looking great on paper, in terms of overall talent and depth, he steps up and takes his game to the next level. He has shown the ability to overcome adversity in the past, be it injuries or sluggish play, so it makes sense that surrounded by better players now, he progresses.
Which also forces the Isles to make a tough call and protect him in the expansion draft AND also decide how much they want to commit to him financially as an upcoming RFA. However, that is ultimately a good problem since you can never have enough solid defenders around.
like OP said, Shane Prince (strong Corsi numbers and 45 points)
Hickey (I think he's going to pick up where he left off in last year's playoffs
Lee (30-35g, 20-25a, he was one of the most unlucky players in the nhl last year, can't wait to see him this year)
