Nicknames

Nicknames aren't what they used to be throughout pro sports. Some corny ones are started from time to time, often by the teams' publicity people. What we need are names that are used more often than the player's given name.

If any Jet had a nickname in Atlanta it was not profound enough to make it through customs.

So let's add some. And not just adding a "y" to the player's last name.

Obviously there's BIG BUFF.

I could see Scheifele being referred to as just Scheif. Marky Mark is not bad either. Could see a Scheifele shuffle becoming a popular celebration dance by fans when Mark scores.

Wheelz, Slates, THOR, ??????

Not really a nickname, but I seem to recall that Enstrom was referred to as pocket Lidstrom by Atlanta fans. Maybe some Thrasher fans on this board can confirm.

His twitter handle has something to do with his dogs. Not his nickname.

Now that it is mentioned, I seem to recall something about that being his nickname when he was in college. It was spoken of over on the Coyotes board when he was still their property.

Now that it is mentioned, I seem to recall that that was his nickname back when he was in college. I remember a discussion about that on the Coyotes board when he was still their property.

Don't think it stuck when he made it to the NHL though.

Our owners and Management staff have better nicknames tha our players .....Zinger ....Chevy .... Chipper.......

Scheifele should keep # 45 Then his team mates can call him BILLY DEE and when he scores they can say COLT 45 " WORKS EVERY __TIME"

Buff and Bogo for sure.
I have been calling Stuart Marty for the last few seasons.
My wife calls Antropov, Anthropod. I like it.

Randy Jones will always be Randy Jones.
It our new drinking game. Everytime commentators say "Randy Jones" (the full name) you take a drink. This seasons "Willie Mitchell".

So, in other words, Wheeler has 17 nicknames and everyone else has none?

We need to get busy!

I really think we should call Mark Stuart 'Stewie'.

When he hits someone hard we can say he 'ruuu-weeeened' him
