Again...one game. Nabakov always had this chance, and I'm sure he will get the start tomorrow. Tampa played good defense and buried their chances. Montoya looked ok.

When do you think DP will be playing again?

Would you trade DP and our 2012 1st round pick for any teams 2012 4th round pick just to dump DP's contract?

Does the seemingly bad ice at the NVMC affect the goalies?

If Nabokov gets the start on Saturday, will it affect Montoya's play in future games knowing that having only an okay outing will earn him the bench?

It could.. I guess there could be weird bounces on shots.

I fully expect him to start on Saturday.

No because its not like Cappy is benching him due to his play, there are 2.5 starting goal tenders on this team and they all have to get starts and I'm sure as frustrating as it is they completely understand that.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Nabokov is saying, "I'm really not thrilled with this 3-goalie situation, but I'll do my best not to be a distraction now. However if I don't get some playing time in the near future, all bets are off..."
As we get further into the season I think Nabokov will be less and less willing to put up with starting one game every week or two.

So you don't think Nabokov should start even though he had a great game against the Rangers?

I think Nabakov should get the start.. I'd prefer if DP disappeared but as long he's healthy he's going to get his starts and I think that he will get the start on Saturday.

In all honesty, Rick can't get too many more concussions before he's partially brain damaged. He's had so many already that its inevitable he retires due to concussions eventually & his cap hit is then gone. Trading Nabby before the deadline, or even at all if he's the best option, is foolish simply due to that dark cloud hanging over DP's head(no pun intended).

IMO Nabby should be the #1 guy. he is definitely better than the other two. Still not sold on Montoya. And we know about Rickety.

Exactly, I totally agree. I was one of those voices saying trade Nabby at first but with this most recent injury to DP, idk what I was thinking ! lol I shouldve known better. Monty and Nabby are completely needed until Poulin proves himself 100% NHL ready

No news yet on nyi website or twitter, my guess is Nabokov since Montoya didnt play great and if they wait much longer to play Nabokov you risk him sitting to long and being rusty. been 7 days since nabby last played. If they dont play him now and wait till next game that would make 10 days, bet on it being nabby with the start.

Edit: Nabokov getting the start in net tonight @ Florida for the user who wanted to know who would be starting.

Always had an eye for Islanders ever since they played their first season and I like the Nabokov/Montoya tandem. Islanders would be better off getting rid of Dipietro.

No need to preach that here as we all like him but want him gone Thanks for your support! I have a feeling dipi may start tonight for the first time. We will see though. Hopefully one day he will be gone though for the franchises sake

Nabby got the start when DP was "healthy". When Montoya got the start earlier in the season when Rick was "healthy", Nabby was in the press box. Ricky is never a healthy scratch.
