PowerPlay Lines

What do you guys see as the 2 units to start the year? Or do you think Renney will run the 3 lines through and see what happens the first few weeks?

This is what I would like to see....

PP1

Hall RNH Hemsky
Whitney Potter

PP2

Omark Smyth Eberle
Petry Barker

PP1

Hall RNH Smyth
Whitney Barker

PP2
Omark Horcoff/Belanger Eberle
MPS Petry

*Disclaimer
PP2 center is not my preference just whats available. Once Gagner is healthy there is no way either of those guys plays the PP.

Hall - Smyth - Eberle is a group that could put up some serious points

I know you're not alone because I've seen other posters talk about Potter's performance on the powerplay in the last preseason game positively, but I have to say I really couldn't possibly disagree more. I thought he was terrible. He's probably a better PP option than Sutton and Peckham, but with two other RH defensemen who are far superior to him in Petry and Gilbert (not to mention LHers Whitney and Barker), I really don't see a place for Potter anywhere on the powerplay, let alone the 1st unit.

Besides, with 6 or 7 quality forwards, I'd be more inclined to go with 4 forwards on the powerplay.

PP1:

Hall-RNH-Hemsky/Eberle (depending on the d-pairing)

PP2:
Smyth - Gagner - Hemsky/Eberle

D1:

Whitney - Paajarvi

D2:
Petry - Omark

If Whitney is on the point, I'd rather have Ebs than Hemsky, as RNH and Whitney are the playmakers, and then it gives Eberle, Hall, and Paajarvi as snipers.
Having Hemsky on this line is too many playmakers, and doesn't have enough shooting options.

For the 2nd PP Having Hemsky, and Omark as the set-up guys, with Smyth in front, and Petry and Gagner it looks good.

Omark scares me on the point for PP.
If he loses the puck at the blueline there is no way he can back check safely, it's either a hooking penalty or in our net.

MPS has the wheels to make up for a blue line turnover. Omark is also infinitely better from the half boards than he is on the point.

No centre, no one to win the face offs against the other team's best guys on the dot. All 3 are finishers first, need a set up guy in my opinion.
