Now, Lightning's Dominic Moore (MRI on sore back on Monday) off ice and watching practice in workout clothes. Should have more info soon.
Lightning's Moore (MRI exam Monday on sore back) leaves the ice and is watching in workout clothes. ... D Ohlund (knee) officially on IR.
Moore said his sore back is just "one of those things," and expects to play Friday. "You want to make sure your alignment and everything is working the way it should," said Moore, who had an MRI exam that showed no damage. "Now is the time to take care of it before it gets more out of whack."

News from Tampa skate this morning here at Verizon Center: Mattias Ohlund will have both knees scoped Tuesday morning. Out indefinitely.
they should trade for Jamie McBain in CAR. He is an upgrade over Gilroy/Bergeron/Gervies and does everything they all do at a young age. He has been a healthy scratch in Carolina, I don't know what the asking price would be though.
Ohlund's a good defender when he's somewhat healthy and in crucial situations, he was a saving grace in the playoffs last year given the fact that he had a bad 2nd half of the season, but I think he's at the point where his body is starting to break down due to his playing style, minutes, and just overall career.
If Gilroy doesn't get his **** together here soon and get a better understanding of the system, I wouldn't mind maybe throwing Gudas a bone if Ohlund is going to be out a significant amount of time.
Time to sign McCabe? I hope, that Gervais will be better than Gilroy. Ohlund should retire after this season.
I wouldn't mind giving him a shot per se. His asking price is probably not too high right now either. But it's a bit early to look for a solution outside of the organization.
Edit:

This....Gudas, is the closest thing to being NHL ready as far as defense goes, hes playing top pairing minutes with the Ads, and coach cooper loves the kid. Why not reward him with a cup of coffee and see how he does?

Eh, while I do believe they are more....seasoned par say. I would rather give Gudas a few games than one of them. If for the longer haul I could see your point however.
Ohlund is 35, with 4 more years after this one. I seem to remember it as a 7 year deal but he was expected to retire before the end of the contract.
From Capgeeks his salary 4 (this year), 5.5, 5, 3.75, 2, 1 with a NTC . So next year he gets $5.5m as at best 3/4 defense man, and should really be a 5/6 in a year or 2.
Would SY put in in the AHL to clear $3.6m cap space if needed?

lol. Are we trading for a gross of Malkins? How would we take on that much salary without also trading a roster player? (SFY exempted)

#tblightning D Eric Brewer not practicing today, told he's day to day with an upper body injury; he did practice yesterday

Get better quickly Brewer.
At least we have an explanation for his low TOI last game. Well, that's horrible news.
