Yep, retirement and some sort of coaching job to keep him with the organization. Mattias is a class guy and has a lot he can teach the younguns.

I love Ohlund. He has a special place in my heart from his time in Vancouver too. This is really bad... I hope he is able to recover and play again.

And if it is "early retirement bad," he's definitely the kind of guy you want to keep around your organization in some capacity.

Ohlund might not play this season

"Lightning coach Guy Boucher gave the grimmest assessment yet about D Mattias Ohlund, who has not played a regular-season game because of two bum knees that Boucher said "are worn down."

Boucher even hinted Ohlund might not play this season. "

http://www.tampabay.com/sports/hocke...cle1206512.ece

I wish he had Kubina's knees.

From the same article,

Quote:
MEDICAL MATTERS: D Matt Gilroy left in the third period with a lower-body injury.
Don't know how serious or anything else.

Another DTD type it looks like

The blood clot has cleared from the eye of Marty St Louis, he worked out for an hour, vision still a little blurry, not sure when he'll skate

St Louis said he is not traveling with the team to Columbus but will workout this weekend; noncommittal on traveling next week to SJ & Col

feel bad for matty ohlund. time to call it quits? but his contract would still count against tampa's current payroll? if he retired.

If he retired it would not. He signed the contract before he turned 35.

Ohlund could work with the team on our heartless PP.

Marty St. Louis has yet to return to workouts a week after taking a puck to his left eye, but Boucher believes that as soon as St. Louis can get back on the ice, the former MVP will be ready to return to the lineup.

"The problem is going to be the blood in his eye, and until that is out he can't play,'' Boucher said. "He's going to play with a cage, most likely, when he starts back, and the problem is not going to be the broken bone, it's the fact he has blood in his eye. And the minute that is taken care of, I know him, and if there would have been a remote chance of him playing after that crazy day, he would have been in there.''

Who do we call up if Nate is out (other than Oberg)? Ashton? Someone else?

It'll never be Ashton or Gudas. I think they'd prefer Richard Petiot to come out on crutches than give Gudas a cup of coffee.

Unfortunately we didn't re-sign Mitch Fritz. He'd be the perfect call-up.

Tampa doesn't play again until Wednesday, Norfolk is off(after tonight) until the 28th. I'd expect a forward and Dman to be called up for the western trip to give them a look.

No. We can't replace Wayne Fleming, no matter what.

In honor of their former PP coach, they will not score a single PP goal this season.

Ryan Shannon will miss 2 to 4 weeks with a lower body injury, per the team #tblightning will re-evaluted when team returns from Xmas break
Not that I've been overly impressed, but at least he was a semi-capable warm body. We're starting to run a bit short on those.

I'll say it again, I'd honestly be shocked if we don't see a trade soon after the holiday freeze ends.
