And you may get him, even with Tyrell back. Pyatt's hurt, questionable for tomorrow.

Would anyone mind giving me an update on Ohlund? Used to be one of my favourite players back in his days in the blue and green. Sad to see him sitting out this year. Does anyone know if doctors are expecting a recovery on the knee surgery, or is his career looking questionable from here on out?

Nobody knows but the doctors/trainers/coaches and they don't leak info. All that is known for sure is his knees were cleaned out and there was a lot of **** in there, post-cleaning he experienced a lot of pain, skated a few times and stopped.

Forward Tom Pyatt, who left Thursday's practice limping, will not play Friday and is day-to-day with a lower-body injury believed to be of his left leg. Pyatt said he does not expect to be out a significant amount of time. ... Hall, hurt Jan. 5, was supposed to be out up to eight weeks, but Boucher said that timetable has quickened. "It's a lot ahead of schedule," he said. "He's been doing everything the doctors have been asking him to do. He's extremely professional, so it's going a lot faster than we thought."

Might as well add Downie to the list. I'm sure he's willing to play but maybe Boucher takes him out a game or two as precaution.

Is Shannon like...gone? It seems like once he got put on IR, no one asked any more questions.

Not sure what reason Boucher would take him out for. He got some stitches but was fine the rest of the game.

Adam Hall was wearing a RNC (Red-No Contact) sweater yesterday, which seems to indicate that's he's further along than the projected 8-weeks he was supposed to be out.

From what I can tell, these guys are wearing RNC's:

Hall
Wyman
Shannon

He was skating with the team in practice (no contact), IIRC.

You know, it's to the point of almost being amusing now.

Any tally on how many man-games we've lost this year so far? I'm guessing near 200.

According to this site (last updated 1/20/12) it's 130. Not sure how reliable that Brittany lady is, though.

Interesting, as it seems to back up my thoughts during yesterday's Coyotes game. They are perhaps the physically strongest team in the league, and they have the fewest games lost to injury, according to this list.

Jason Serbus is PHX's Head athletic trainer, who may ring a bell as he was Tampa Bay's assistant athletic trainer for a few years.

What I would note about the list, while marginally accurate, it doesn't give the whole story. Concussions are being treated very seriously now, and those should almost be on their own list, just as guys who are missing the entire season should be excluded because they essentially become nominal team members at some point.

There's also the fact that the author of this list is counting 9 games for Connolly, which would seem to include his time with Team Canada, although I don't recall him being injured this season with us. That may be the parlance, but it's not true in terms of man-games lost *to injury*. He did get injured while training with Canada, but it's hardly fair to count that against us somehow. They might have a future as an NHL referee, actually.

Getting back to my previous point, if you remove Marc Savard from the Bruins, it takes their man-games lost number from 65 to 21.

So taking TB's 130, and removing Mattias Ohlund's 46 games missed. It's down to 84, which is still a lot.

Shannon's missed 24 games due to injury? That seems high. I'm only counting 14. He was also scratched for 8 games, which would bring his total up to 22.

They also somehow have Erik Gustavsson with the Flyers as having been injured 87 games this season, which seems a tad excessive.

Tyrell, Pyatt and Malone won't be able to go tomorrow. According to Boucher two call-ups are coming from Norfolk.

Glad to see Angelidis get called up. He improved his game last season and has done a good job as captain there. As for Oberg, I truly cannot recall any player who has had to endure something like this before. It's quite comical, and it looks like he finally gets to play.

Starting to believe Ryan Malone is made out of cream cheese.
After the way Dana Tyrell has been missing sure goals he may need to sit for a while he's starting to remind me of Jones, and those memories are really not pleasant. Not sure we really miss him after the way Smith and Labrie have been playing.

Players like Malone have always been kind of injury prone. He plays in the high impact dirty areas. Those guys give and take a lot of abuse. I wish he could be healthier, but it's not all that surprising.
