That's the problem, he can't stop getting breaks. And don't try to make him catch anything either, there's no telling what will happen. As soon as a game ends he should be wrapped up in bubble wrap and packed safely away, not to be taken out until the next game.

That sucks. Hopefully he comes back soon and can stay relatively healthy for the rest of his tenure here. It doesn't bode well for someone who already has a huge injury history to get injured before his first game. Could be absolute coincidence, but you have to wonder just how well his body is holding up.

Also, as usual, you get the flock of people here belittling posters who are upset that he may miss the opener or more. As if there wasn't good reason to be unhappy given that he's could miss the first few games of his time here, or it re-affirms how injury prone he can be. Not to mention most people here aren't making complete final judgements on him or anything, just expressing disappointment on him missing the game, or making obviously sarcastic statements, or worried about his injury status (completely valid concern.) I swear, these posters in any bad news thread complaining about people who show any negativity are displaying more of a knee-jerk reaction than the people they're accusing of that very thing.

Darn it Connolly! Why didn't you just turn down that contract offer and not sign with us?! It's all your fault!

Come on...same as Komisarek? How can a guy who hasn't played a regular season game for us be the same as a guy who has disappointed us for the most part.

I hope he makes a good recovery in time for game 1, looking forward to seeing him play in a game that really matters.

I wouldn't be shocked if Kuli-Grabo-Frattin are the first line going into Thursday. I love Kessel but Kuli and Grabo are our two best forwards.

You sure about that? What if one of the bubbles pop and it fractures something?

You can't say that this was unexpected. It was going to happen at
some point, and we just roll with #1C by commitee.

From what TSN radio was saying, this seems like Peyton Hillis type situation, where he's just being a puss and sitting. Very disappointing.

This just really pissed me off. Everybody was hoping he would have a healthy season, and here we are, the season not even started yet and already he is injured. Is he made of cotton? Now I think I know why media and fans in Buffalo were constantly on his back. Get it together Connolly.

Hahaha.

Most appropriate cynical post.

I have no idea what he's gonna do to make up for this. Maybe PPG when healthy? On the other hand didn't Toskala have health issues through his floundering moments on the Leafs? It might have been better for the team's sake to be more forthcoming like Connolly.

Could he have passed the fans' 1st impression (expectation) any short of 3 goals and 4 assists VS Montreal?

The KGM line has already been deemed the 1st line.

No suprise here.

Connolly is suposed to be the answer to our #1 center problem but the guy isant even healthy enough to play the first game of the year. If Burke is serious about getting this team to the playoffs, he's gonna need to do something about getting a true #1 center....and fast.

For all the people running there mouth about it only being the first game and we are jumping all over him.

Remember. The leafs are a bubble team this year and need all the wins they can get. Having Mac sit for 2 games is more than enough to get pissy over.

Connolly is a china doll and unless he is really injured he should be playing the 1st game. The chemistry i was hoping for him and his linemates to gain in the preseason did not happen at all. (as he was unable to even practice with the line)

I disagree with this, and all of the other people harping about overreactions.

As far as I'm concerned, staying healthy and suiting up every night is a talent, much like skating and stick handling. For whatever reason, some guys just don't have it.

There's a reason the guy hasn't played 80+ games since '02. But I don't even think the most skeptical of us thought he would miss game 1.

When a guy misses significant time almost every season in his career. Its hard to be surprised when he gets injured for your team.

Probably a sign of things to come based on his past but let's hope not. When he plays, he can be an effective player.
