I would not include him with Eklund.. Bob has been on the money with many of his posts. Eklund on the other hand is awful and I would not even bother posting it. I know Bob is not a solid source but hey it definitely leaves room for Strome if he plays well.

When are we going to learn that anonymous rumor-mongers have absolutely no credibility?

Back in highschool in 10th grade I was given a choice after tryouts: stay with Varsity but almost never play in the games, or go to JV and start all the time. I stuck with varsity because I would be playing with better, stronger players 6 days a week. I think they want Strome to stick around a little just to see what its like, even if he doesn't play he gains a lot of experience without potentially injuring himself or hurting our chances of winning if he is indeed not ready for the NHL.

He is good with football, but I don't remember him calling anything Isles related. I just remember a plethora of things that didn't happen. Semin trade, Weight as coach, Bailey and Comeau being traded, and plenty of other times where he said the Isles had a trade coming.

Why ask for a trade a month after you signed a 2 year contract?

Really? IB just makes educated guesses, he is not plugged in at all. He is the exact type of "insider" that Eklund is he is just smarter about what he posts.

Strome might be his replacement folks!!
The Islanders haven't handled Bailey correctly in many instances up to this point.

But that's the past.. going forward, I believe I read that Bailey will start the season on the second PP unit. That, to me, is a major opportunity.

If Bailey wants a bigger role on the team he has every opportunity to earn it. Our coach has clearly shown that he'll give everyone what they earn.

Your right about his football stuff and thats what I was referring too.. Eklund on the other hand is like a 5 yr old kid on the computer. Now If this trade does happen.. not saying it will... All I can see is maybe Bailey for Turris. Even Swap???

This is why I posted his rumor on the Strome ELC thread and not as a seperate post.. Strome would play but get less minutes and they would throw in whoever we got for Bailey.

Is he going to play, or are they just going to keep scratching him? Get the kid a few games and send him back already

The coaches didn't cut him but they aren't playing him.

Either:

he's almost ready for the bigs or...

they don't want him to be out there when the whole team is playing like cah-cah.

Personally they should've sent him back to Niagra at the start of the season and kept Kabanov up. I thought he showed a hell of a lot more than Strome did in the preseason.

Guys like Seguin and Stamkos were healthy scratches for their teams at various points of their age 18 rookie seasons. No harm in this at all. At the very least he got to practice and work out with an NHL team for an extra week. Now he goes back to Niagara with that experience. I see no downside to this move.

{MOD EDIT}

anyway, happy he's back. There might be something to the Isles wanting to give him an NHL paycheck for a week or 2. I suppose that's a really nice thing of them to do. But I do wish he was playing in the 3 or so games Niagra has already played.

Hopefully we don't see him back until he's good & ready in 2 years.

should have been there 2 weeks ago.....dont see the point in letting him watch 2 free nhl games when he could have been leading his junior team.....

It definitely is about time he was sent back to Niagara. I guess this means that Nino is close to returning.

Since Strome didn't play a second so he wasn't taking Nino's spot. I don't see one having to do with the other.

Good point. I guess I just link them together because they are our two most promising kids.

Anyone have any info on Nino's status? Is he close to returning?

I believe he is still out as well as Jurcina, but Gillies will be returning.

Brian Compton - NHL.com
Ryan Strome, who was on Long Island this morning, has a hat trick for Niagara tonight in his first junior game of the season.
