Makes sense, they need the depth. Now I must hate you Woywitka.

Cal Clutterbuck is so close to Cal Cluster**** that it has to be the winner.

Dallas and Montreal fans... can you give me a scouting report on the guy? I see he's pretty big, is he physical? Slow? Bad puck-mover? What's the deal with him?

Well, so much for him being in Montreal this season.

I guess the Rangers won't be going the trade route to add a defenseman afterall. I just hope they know what they're getting with Woywitka. Nothing more than a bottom-pairing guy but ideally he should be the 7th on a good team.

it was a great signing for our AHL team, but I never thought he would be a regular in Montreal, so I don't care at all if we lose him.

Another all-star added to the worlds best defense. Good thing they didn't give up a 4th round pick to acquire a guy --that would have been crazy.

agreed with clutterbuck.

I am slightly disappointed he got claimed as I am a fan of his.

As for the "deal" with him, he has loads of defensive awareness but leaves a lot to be desired on the offensive end. Below average skater but doesn't get caught up ice a lot. He also is pretty good at not taking dumb penalties.

Depth Chart... he was behind Markov, Subban, Gorges, Campoli, Weber, Spacek, Diaz, Emelin, Gill. He has a good size but isn't really physical. Good or bad at nothing, he is just average.

This must make Paul Mara feel good about himself ... the Rangers purportedly were talking with him about a contract. Time to hang 'em up?

I didn't get a chance to see him too much, he seemed big and strong, but the one thing I noticed is he makes a lot of mistakes and turnovers unfortunately, he's serviceable though until Staal comes back

Well if Crosby, Malkin, J.Staal, & Letang were Rangers we might have offered them up in a package for Luke Schenn, but I think the requirement of an extra 2nd on our end would have killed the deal anyway.

Woywitka, from what I've seen, has an awesome toolbox but only a Jobmate hammer to fill it.

Below average offensively and below average defensively means there's no spot for you. Seriously, I prefered Alexandre Picard to him. Can be a good 7th. Wouldn't consider him a better player than Paul Mara, but probably better at taking somebody's spot in the lineup than Mara, due to his overall, well-balanced below-averageness.

Awards:
He wasn't as bad as he was hyped to be in the preseason, but he's still not a guy you want taking a regular shift in your top-six.

Well he was never going to be in Montreal this season. He was #8 on our depth chart and that's with Markov out with injury and Weber playing as a forward.

Woywitka was claimed as an extra insurance defenseman with Staal out. He will be sitting in the press box for most of the season.

The Rangers want Valentenko playing, not sitting in the press box.

From what I've read Woywitka will do the job as a number 6. If you start to rely on him top 4, then you better kiss your season good-bye.
I'll take him over the double Bs anyday.
