My guess is, of the new scouting team in Montreal, one scout is assigned to HFBoards.

I am certainly shocked. Not that we didn't need a 4th line C. And Betts is certainly a pretty good defensive player. Am shocked that Gauthier actually made that move.

I know of a few Flyers fans who will be upset.

50.3% I believe? Saw that number thrown around in the topics suggesting we claim him.

the negative comments will eventually come... sadly.

But yeah for 700 000. It's a low risk, high reward thing.

Enqgvist is taller than Betts.

So.....how about the shoulder?

You'd think that a respectable GM would have made sure that this is not a concern. Good move if you are a respectable GM, Pierre.

Even if he's broken down, he's still better than Engqvist in that particular spot. Well done Gauthier.

Excellant pickup!! Did not have to give anything up to get a good defensive forward. Hopefully we'll see him tomorrow night against the leafs!

He's so cheap that if it is a problem he can be waived. No issue.

53.8% at home, 46.8% on the road. 50.3% overall. Anyone know where you can get defensive-zone vs offensive-zone stats?

Moen/Darche - Betts - White

4th line suddenly looks better than it did a few hours ago.

Also if he can take some of the PK load off of the top-6 even better.

Maybe it's a "concern", but Gauthier still believe it's worth the risk.

Even if he ends up sucking, what did we lose? Our waiver wire spot? How often do we pick players on waivers?

I'm actually starting to believe the rumours: Gauthier has a guy "scouting" our comments! After all, we were in overwhelming majority of picking up Betts yesterday...

Ideally this will allow Plekanec to spend less time on the PK. I always hated Betts when he was on the Rangers. He destroyed our PP. Lundqvist might have helped too

If we end up trading for superstar players than I'll believe it.

Yeah, that's my problem. Engvist is exactly what we already have. Betts is a far better addition to that spot.

Will be interesting.

The final piece... the big fourth line center. The portrait is now complete. Let the season begin!

He got a shoulder injury? During training camp?

If so, that's a lot of injuries in a few months. He had surgery to a finger last season and also missed a few games because of a knee problem.
