I think he'll be a nice depth pickup for their PK.

Will play 4th line center doing the same job Metropolit and Halpern did the past few years.

Metropolit, now Betts.

Knew he was going to be claimed, glad to see it was my second favorite team.

I don't know why Burke just didn't do this, instead of waisting a fourth rounder on Steckel.. Oh well.
Good pick up by the habs.

Aren't Betts' faceoff skills on the decline due to the shoulder?

If Burke wanted faceoffs, Steckel was the guy to go to despite the higher price (in terms of both trade cost and contract).

Even with a bum shoulder, Betts wins over 50% of his faceoffs, plus hes a beast on the pk.

Good for Montreal who really needed a 4th line center. What's the Flyers lineup look like? Now that Schenn and Betts are not on the team.

solid pick up, guess Engqvist isn't ready for 4th line duty.

The story on Schenn was he's just going down to avoid triggering some bonuses, I guess by not being on the roster opening day. The team put out that he'll be called up right away once the season's started.

Because he obviously likes Steckel more. It was a fourth round pick but on HF that might as well be a first.

Engqvist is not NHL caliber yet

That's a nice lineup. There's a good combination of young and old players.

Maybe Engqvist is gonna stick around until Eller gets healthy, and he'll replace any of our checking players who get injured?

Leafs could have saved themselves a 4th rounder and just claimed Betts, good job by mtl

Steckel is better on face offs.

Good for Betts though, he didn't deserve to be in the AHL.

Get a clue man. Nobody thinks a 4th is worth much.

If Kovalev got a 7th in a weaker draft I find it hard to believe Steckel a guy who could easily even be playing in the AHL is worthy of a 4th.

Hopefully for leafs fans I'm wrong but we'll have the season to see for ourselves.
