Start the season off right with a win and solid game all around. Points from Patches and Subban would be appreciated for my fantasy team.

Got that right. A long time hiding from all those gloating B's fans. I can finally wear some CH gear again and at least retort that it's a new season!

I hate to say this and totally hope I'm wrong, but... I think Toronto is going to beat us and maybe even beat us badly. As a matter of fact, I don't think we're going to have a very good season.

Why am I being so pessimistic? Jacques Martin. This year, there's no Kirk Muller around to mitigate this "modern-hockey-has-passed-him-by" coach. The team had trouble scoring last year *when Muller was there!* What's it going to be like this year? The sad part is that as long as he's there, he's going to continue eroding Subban's confidence to the point where a once potential superstar, will probably never achieve his potential.

Martin was a very good coach *in the old NHL* (though he never won a Cup, did he). He's a dinosaur in the new NHL. All he manages to do is be hell on young players. (I hold up Gallagher as the most recent example. Other teams allow 18 year olds to make their roster if their play merits it. Not Martin. He lets go what appeared to be an offensive threat, on an offensively-challenged team. But that's par for the course with Martin.)

My next reason (albeit a very minor one) is Carey Price. He was great last year. Is it reasonable to assume he'll be just as great this time around? What if he has an ordinary year this year, as is very possible? Even the great ones (Roy, Sawchuck, Dryden, etc.) had ordinary years. What if Price has one? I shudder to think about it.

I know I'll get flamed for this post and, as stated, I hope I'm completely wrong. Please Habs, make me look like an idiot. But I don't think so.

Kirk Muller: The best coach nobody in the NHL wanted to hire.

People have little to no idea what his responsibilities with the team were during his tenure with the Habs (and that goes for pretty much every assistant coach in the league) but because he pats a few guys on the back during a game he's Knute Rockne around here.

Il faut maintenant enlever le Y dans Alexei Yemelin des #canadiens. Il jouera ce soir avec Emelin dans le dos.

Another season and another fan complaining about Jacques Martin. Usually they at least wait till a real game has been played so kudos to you on that.
