Having a great last name doesn't make you great.

Nystrom is no different than Colliton or Marcinko in terms of what he brings.

SIDE NOTE: Jesse Joensuu off to a GREAT start in the SEL. Who would have thought?!
Agree on Nystrom. Saw him extensively for Team USA at the WC in Germany in 2010 - summer of his free agency - and was thoroughly unimpressed. See him fading into an AHL/European career rather quickly.

He's a name, but adds little more - sadly.

As for Joensuu, I do have him pegged for 35 points in the SEL BUT his PPG pace isn't really that right now. His team came back from being down 7-2 in a game and tied it up within 4:55 minutes, then won in the shootout. That was awesome and fun, especially for a typically low-scoring SEL (already like 10 shutouts within the first 5 gamedays and several of them being 1-0 or 2-0), but Jesse had I believe Jesse had 3 or 4 points in that game alone.

Jason Krog is the offensive motor of that team.

Nystrom Waived

Before Everyone says oh its for the name and oh hes from the island and all that ********......I loved what he brought to the flames...he had an off year in Minnesota....Hes a solid penalty killer, he can score, hes a good defensive player and would be a great addition to our team IMO. A 4th line of Pandalfo-Reasoner-Nystrom is a pretty solid 4th line and allows for more protection out there if need be. Worth a shot and it wont be a big cap hit....let the we pick up other garbage waiver **** flaming begin, personally he would be a good addition to this team. Martin and Nystrom would also be throwing alot of hits.

Our bottom Six would look as follows and would be a tremendous PK and bottom 6 if you ask me

Martin-Bailey-Rolston
Pandalfo-Reasnor-Nystrom

I dont think PA will repeat and I think Pandalfo isnt gonna do so well, I want to Keep Martin up and with Gillies as a healthy scratch most nights i was banking on having haley patrol with martin, well, I think Nystrom and Martin can do so and we have physical presence with hits and guys willing to drop, Id say waive Pandalfo and I am mixed on where to put Nino but we have some guys who may not stick, guys a decent NHLer 3rd and 4th liner i think its worth a shot and younger and more physical and just as good as Pandalfo

I say pick 'em up.

As was mentioned, his defensive game is his stregnth. He's a great 3rd/4th liner.

Let's pretend his last name is Smith. Do you still want him?

You don't claim someone and just throw them to Bridgeport. He would need to clear waivers again, and the Isles aren't going to claim someone so they can pay him an NHL salary in the minors.

That's not how teams operate. If Snow feels he would make the team better they should claim him, not because his dad played for the team.

Wasn't he a UFA just 2 years ago?

Nystrom is a 4th liner. Isles don't need him.

Great he is not.

Watch him a bit. There's a reason a team like Minnesota waived him...

Kyle Cumiskey was waived by the Avs today:

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie
MIN's Eric Nystrom clears waivers. COL puts Kyle Cumiskey on waivers. MTL puts Joe Callahan on waivers for purposes of signing to a contract

Colorado is my favorite Western team, I would love to have Kyle on our team but I would prefer a bigger body for that top-4 d-man we need.
