How is the 3rd place OUA team going to be determined this year? Are the two semi-finalists going to play a series or just one game?

3.3 CIS Berths The two teams qualifying for the Queen’s Cup will earn the two OUA assigned berths to the CIS National Championship Tournament.
3.4 Bronze Medal Game (Third Place Game) – played to determine third berth to CIS Championship.
In the event that an OUA school is hosting the CIS Championship and also wins their conference (reaches the Queen’s cup), the third place game will be hosted by the team with the best overall record; if the records are identical the OUA general tie-breaking procedures will be used to determine the host of that game.
Now it says '...OUA school is hosting...', but I think it's safe to assume the same thing would happen for 'wild card'.
Since they don't play the tournament in a pre-defined location anymore, it will be interesting if Lakehead and UQTR are the losers - that would be a long trip to play a single game - winner take all.

Queen's 4, RMC 1 in the 25th annual Carr-Harris Cup at the K-Rock Center in Kingston. Kelly Jackson (Queen's) and Colin MacLean (RMC) were named MVPs for their respective teams. 2,500 people and 2 live bands really gave it a NCAA feel.
RMC is in West Point, NY now playing Army Black Knights saturday night!

Yup - it's likely.
You would draw UQTR in the second round and given your success against them - could advance. The team 'D' would need to improve (100 GA is too high) to win that series. You would likely advance against McG then if you lose, play either UWO, LKD or Waterloo in a single game. Given your current record - you would be the visitor. A long trip if you draw LKD - having to bus to Ottawa then fly to Thunder Bay to get up for one game.

SMU jumps into second place two points behind UNB and one point up on Moncton. Acadia and UPEI tied for third. X finally get a win and now has a 3 point lead on Dal for the last playoff spot.
McGill, Loses 4-2 to unranked Concordia. They have now lost 2 of their last 3 games, including a win over UQTR and another loss to unranked Carleton. Western should take over as the top ranked OUA team and we should see AUS and CanadaWest teams ranked higher than the Redmen!

Getting the OUA voters to accept a drop in the rankings for McGill is another challenge. Teams in the other two league's are facing ranked competition on a consistent basis. I don't mean to bash the OUA, but top to bottom, the West and Atlantic don't have the luxury of playing several huge parts of their schedule against unranked competition. I think that they need to get get a CanadaWest team in the top 3, the West also plays back to back nights against the same team, which can be very tough to sweep!

There are lots of reasons to state why every team out there is not really the #1 team. I have usually ranked somebody as A+. Not this year.
Anyhow, here are some fun facts:
* Had Acadia beaten UNB last night, the top 5 in the AUS and the top 3 in the CW would been separated by 2 points.
* UPEI has the best record in the AUS in head-to-head games amongst the five A level teams.
* Heading into the weekend, against B and C level teams UNB was 9-0-1, Moncton was 9-1-0, Acadia was 10-1-0, and SMU was 9-0-1.
* The Urban Cowboys have not played an A level team in either conference or non-conference games. They were 19-2-3 against B and C level teams heading into the weekend. And 14 of those games were against C level teams.
* The McGilligutties were 18-2-1 against B and C level teams. They are now 1-1-1 against A level teams (with the mid-week win over UQTR), 1-2-2 if you include non-conference games.
* The top three in the CW have been close all season. The oddity is that the official rankings have had the Evil Monkeys on top when they should be third, and not just because of the back-room dealings. They are (and have been) behind Manitoba and the Mutts in head-to-head games and winning percentage.
* It is possible for Alberta to get first despite being third best because of the scheduling quirks and the aforesaid back-room monkeying around. Each CW team plays home and away double-headers against every other team and then gets one additional home series and one additional away series. Manitoba, Calgary, and UBC each have an extra series against one another. Alberta and Sask each have their extra series against Lethbridge and Regina, clearly the weakest two teams in the conference.
Gee Gees 5 - Stingers 3
Ottawa takes advantage of another team coming off an emotional upset of McGill. Once again it was the grizzled old veteran Matt Methot who showed his team how to win a must win game. The Gee Gees played solid in their own end however the propensity of Dominic Jalbert to pinch on almost every shift led to at least 6 odd man rushes by the Stingers who were snubbed by Russell Abbott who made several athletic saves when facing breakaways and 2 on 1's caused by turnovers at the Concordia blueline. Still, Abbott was the author of his own misfortune when instead of covering the puck he fired a pass onto the stick of a Stinger who picked up the easy goal. During the second period the announcers commented over and over again on how many odd man rushes the Gee Gees were giving up. If they don't learn that team defense is a 200ft game even if they get into the playoffs they won't be around long, this is not the era of "run & gun".
Army Black Knights 9, RMC 1. Cant blame the refs on this one, they had 6 powerplays and we had 4. Just got in awe of the crowd and the big moments and couldnt handle their transition play. Unreal atmosphere with the dueling bands and the Cadets on both sides of the border.

That's one massive log jam at the top of the AUS standings. SMU just one point back of New Brunswick. UNB has a game in hand on the Huskies. The CIS website has them at 36 points with a loss at Dal, they actually has 37 points. This was a shootout win for Dal, that saw a total of 16 shooters, before the Tigers, who were outshot over 2-1, robbed the extra point.
For UNB, not a bad weekend taking 3 of 4 possible points on the road. Dal is back to within a point of X and it will be very interesting to see what plays out between those two teams when they meet twice before the end of the regular season.
It seemed that Manitoba was beat last night against UBC, comes through with another clutch win late in the third period to take over first place in CanadaWest.
Took in a few minutes of the Lakehead vs Western game last night, the Mustanges took advantage of some weak goaltending and beat the Wolves again. Western's record reflects the overall weak competition in the OUA West. They should advance to Nationals, but will be facing much stronger competition than they have all season long, we will see how dominant they really are?

Hey, how about that - there were actually two consecutive posts where someone didn't comment on Western's or McGill's weak schedule. The fact is, Western plays the games on its schedule and wins most of them. The fact is Lakehead is a decent team and Western just beat them 4 times over the past three weeks and in three of those games the division lead was still on the line. The fact is, no one knows how good or bad Western is at the national level. But they do seem to show up when it counts.
UPEI really has a chance to get that first round bye as they have a game in hand on SMU. UNB just needs one win in the last three game to secure their spot.
Perfectly fitting that X and Dal play each other twice to close out the season. After beating Moncton Friday I though X was pretty much a lock but they end up lossing to STU again. Tommies technically have a chnace but it would take a miracle.
Edit: Is Acadia the only team left that have their games on radio? I have an Iphone so I am able to listen to their games on AVR.

UNB needs 2 points to grantee a bye (at 39pts, SMU could pass them with 40pts). 1pt could lead to a 2-way tie with UPEI, but UPEI already has the tie-breaker, or a host of other scenarios.
UdeM jumped ahead of UPEI for 3rd with a 6-4 win over UPEI in Moncton and are now 1pt behind SMU for 2nd. UdeM had a big lead in this game only to have UPEI come back to tie it at 4-4 late in the third.
SFX increased their lead over Dal for the last playoff spot to 3 points with a 2-1 win.

No Guarentee X is in for sure, granted it was a huge 2-1 win over Dalhousie Last night, but still those two have a rematch this weekend, if dalhousie wins, just a 1 point edge again and depends what both teams do the 1 other game. Last Nights game could have gone either way, and X is extremely lucky that Dalhousie got off to the dreadfull start they did this year, or they would already be all but out of the Playoffs
Its puzzling that X could basically come back with most players intact from their solid team of the past couple of seasons and add a player of the calabre of Mike Kirkpatrick, and slump like they have. They must really miss those couple guys they did lose
regarding Last Nights STU/UNB game. It was good to see the good will in the end of it all, UNB had a late power play or two and put out the Guys who dont usually see the power play time, tempers could have flared up, and they would have in past years, but obviously Troy Ryan is not about that, also looks like their was kind words said in the handshale between coaches, where Eagles would have left the handshake in discuss, if he even shook hands at all. And to top it off Troy Ryan shows nothing but class again in the Daily Gleaner Article, praising the opposition, and sharing the blame for not preparing his guys like he should have (even though we know he did). He was a good find by STU a keeper, he will get the ship turned around no doubt
