Does he fit on the first couple of lines?

Very good pick up for the Jets. Watch him and Scheifele tear it up.

2 stupid moves made the Coyotes organization in the last couple of days.

1. Signing BizNasty to an extension
2. Waiving MacLean.

There's a chance he might play with Kane and Scheifele on the second line. All the alternatives (Fehr, Maxwell and Stapleton) are injured.

Not sure where he fits in up front honestly, but they must have plans/expectations for him since they put in the claim.

Will be interesting to see where he fits in. Jets have a lot of forwards.

Should be a solid pickup for the Jets, I wonder where he'll play.

I'm really messed up. I always have the quick reaction of thinking that it's Phoenix that became Winnipeg and not Atlanta. So, my first reaction in reading the title was (heu, they're the ones who waived him and now they pick him up?). lol.

Anyway.. great pick by Winnipeg.

Great move by the Jets. MacLean could be the next Grabner.

I would classify this as a "no risk/potentially high reward" move. The jury is still way out on whether it is a great move. MacLean had a quite disappointing camp and has admitted to having confidence issues right now.

Hope he does well.

Don't know why Bryan Murray didn't claim him, we have more than enough forwards but this guy could be worth it.

the guy scores goals at every level, not sure why he was waived in the first place. Dumb move by the Yotes

That just makes him sound like Grabner, v2. Grabner also had a bad camp and confidence issues, but then Isles picked him up, gave him time and he took off. Don't get the point of waving a young guy with so much promise, especially when the team that waived him doesn't exactly have a stacked line-up. I would understand if this was the Red Wings, Bruins, Canucks, etc.

I said this in the main "waivers" thread, but I'll say it here, too.

Phoenix (the organization, not the fans), if you're not going to develop young players, just trade your draft picks away for roster players. At least that way, you'll get the "veterans" you so clearly covet in exchange for the picks you can't seem to develop, and you won't end up giving away the youth you clearly don't know what to do with.

I really, really feel for Coyotes fans. First the ownership situation, and now due to the shaky ownership, a management group that can't decide if it's icing a veteran team, a young team, or seem to have any direction going forwards or any clue what their identity will be in the future.

As an Expos fan (or should I say, an "ex-Expos fan"... screw you, Washington Nationals), I can see clear parallels between my Expos downfall and what's happening right now in the desert. No clear leadership = a mess.

You just can't afford, as a team with a self-imposed (league-imposed) cap and limited resources, to give up on a young player who has shown at every stage that he is developing well and being patient with the organization's demands because he had a bad 3 weeks, and give the roster spot to an older player who was slightly better than the prospect, but with the caveat that the older player has already reached his ceiling. It's just bad business.

Great move, could turn into a steal a la Grabner.
