I think we have a new challenger in the fail for nail sweepstakes. CBJ is bad.

Jason Chimera has more goals than the Av's in 1 less game.

damn jinxed it.

What in the world did Mason do wrong? He got scored on two of three penalty shots by HEJDUK and DUCHENE.

I'm not in favor of anymore expansion. More teams would water down the quality of play within the NHL imho. Prefer going in the opposite direction if necessary, that is contraction.

Never saw the Atlanta relocating to Winnipeg coming. Always thought it would be Phoenix returning to Winnipeg. That being said, I would imagine it's Phoenix relocating to the Pacific Northwest, possibly Seattle after this season. Could see Seattle supporting a hockey team, especially since the Supersonics have left and the way they support their MLS team, I could see that area being rabid for hockey. Doesn't hurt to not be that far from Vancouver either.

Would also like to see the return of a team to Quebec, always enjoyed watching the Nordiques. Just makes more sense to me to have a team there then in southern Florida.

I guess a Hamilton Tigers team occurring anytime soon is out of the question due to the proximity of Buffalo, but if Buffalo starts to really play well that area could possibly support three teams in Toronto, Buffalo and Hamilton.

We should have traded Varly to them. Either way just get us in range to draft Grigorenko and I'll be ecstatic. Sure Yakupov would be the number 1 choice but still.

It's three games. The combined win loss of the teams they have beaten is 1/8. Av's were 9 games over .500 last year, see how that went.

This. I still, say Neuvy is more often than not more consistant than Varly. (Not just health wise)

I thought I heard that Neuvy was nicked up the other day. Varly is doing well. If so, it seems the worm may have turned to start the year.

'Go draft pick' may not get it done, Varly is a damn good goalie and we all saw it first hand.

We also saw that he only played 26 and 27 games respectively the past 2 seasons. Hitching your wagon to a horse that is only available 1/3 of the time is a risky proposition, no matter how fast the horse goes when it finally takes off.

assuming that a 23 year old player will always be injured two thirds of the time is short sighted IMO...

The Caps had 3 goalie prospects...all promising. They traded the guy with the highest upside. Im ok with that under the circumstances but again...assuming he will always be injured and will never be a dependable #1 is something I wont do

What’s the consensus on quality of the ice in Colorado? May be with better ice conditions Varly won’t be on the shelf as often.... So far he looks better than anything we’ve got, but it’s a long season, especially for such an acrobatic goalie.

Stew, absolutely, its a risk. Injuries or lack thereof are always in play, especially as we try to grade younger players. Or older, look at Sid. Sometimes the injuries subside, sometimes they come out of no where, and sometimes they end a career.

I for one think Varly was ready to go in the playoffs, when the games counted. IIRC he didnt get a start because he didnt play much to end the year. Ovi was injured, Green, Backstrom, who else, for a lot of the year too.

Varly didnt play much the springs before when he was largely our playoff hero, either. I think Bruce's patience ran thin and CO snatched him for top dollar. We will see who was right about 2-5 years from now. Our pick could turn out more injury prone than Varly, or bust proper.

Crosby cleared for contact.

I feel quite unclean that I have him on my HF fantasy squad but I'm sure the squad would like him back .

Colorado destroyed Ottawa tonight. It's only Ottawa, but still, bummer seeing them playing well in the early going.

There are definitely some teams that are worse than the avs right now.

Yeah, over 400 man games lost to injury and goalies that couldn't stop beach balls had nothing to do about it.

If this team stays relatively healthy (Varly included), then we will be in the mix for the top 8 playoffs spots and definitely finish 2nd in the Northwest.

Thats a big if. And if Varly goes down your going to have a goalie who cant stop beach balls again.

Also the combined w/l of the teams youve beaten is 2/11. Cant tell me this aint an easy schedule.
