They've all signed in Europe. Rhak in Sweden, Dibo in Austria and Katic in Germany. All have been given qualifying offers though, so the Islanders keep their rights

how can they sign in Europe (my point) when they are RFA's? if the CBA gets rattified, they have to play in BP, no?

Not at all. They have basically told the Islanders they would rather play in Europe than in the AHL and as free agents have signed there. The "restriced" only means they cannot sign for any other NHL team than NYI.

The NYI offer them qualifying terms only to keep their rights. It's a matter of principle but nothing more. They turn down the terms offered and play in Europe instead. If they want to return to the States NYI holds their rights unless they are released.

Well, to be technical, they could sign with another NHL team, but the Isles would have the right to match the offer.

Plus, no NHL team would bother signing these dudes anyway.

DeFazio will be a fan favorite. I saw him play in Wheeling and some in WBS. He is a good gritty player who knows his role. I could see him becoming one of those fringe tweener types. A guy who can play the same role in the AHl and NHL but moves up and down all season.

Colin MacDonald is a bit of an enigma to me. He scored a lot of goals in OKC two seasons ago, but while he was in WBS, I never saw the talent that caused him to score so many goals. When he was up in Pittsburgh on a brief call up, he looked good playing with Cal O'Reilly and Steve Sullivan so he may be one of those guys who looks good playing with skill. The type who can play with talent without looking out of place. Good signings for the most part.

Scott Pellerin, who had a long NHL career. He's actually the assistant coach with Manchester.

I wonder what the bridgeport D will look like

Wishart (Qualified, may be #7 on NHL roster)
deHaan (One of deHaan/Donovon/Ness will make NHL roster)
Donovon (See deHaan)
Ness (See deHaan)
Cantin
Landry
Katic (Playing in DEL)

Kitchon (Still no contract, still eligible for WHL)
Pokka? (Can be signed to play in AHL)

I hope Kichton is signed. I think Pokka will be better off in Finland, though he could play in the AHL.

de Haan or Donovan/ Wishart
Ness/ Landry
Kichton/ Cantin

It could also be possible that a veteran depth defenseman could be signed late august or around the time of training camp.

Islanders sign AHL D-man Nathan Mciver to a one year two-way contract. Gives some depth for Bridgeport's defense and has played 36 games in NHL.

He is a tweener, as of right now McIver is the tough guy, on the blueline among the softies in Bport. A tough stay at home guy, that clears the crease but has zero offensive potential...Not a liability either.

Current scenario for BPort should none of the boys make the big team...

Wishart - de Haan
Donovon - Ness
Landry - McIver
Cantin

Color me unimpressed, even for the AHL level.

Going to be real interesting to see if the team and Pellegrin have anything close to Thompson's touch when it comes to filling in the holes that come every winter.

i would expect another depth signing at d...this looks similar to last year and with two outstanding goalies they should be fine

Anyone know what is going on with Marcinko? They did not say whether or not he signed his offer sheet or not. He was not part of the rejection article and they had an article for Backman accepting. He's not up on Capgeek either.

Marcinko said to slovak media that he is going to play in Europe.

That could explain the extra motivation to sign Clark.

This is all I could find when I was making him in NHL 12 yesterday:

http://www.lighthousehockey.com/2010...-a-jason-clark

LHH: How do you describe your game?

JC: My game is primarily offensive, I think I'm pretty equal as far as being a set up guy and goal scorer. My biggest offensive threat is my hockey sense and my physicality. In my own end I am accountable though, after going to Shattuck and playing for Coach Ward he really taught me how to be the two way player I have became today.

Thanks, I knew nothing about him. I think he will end up playing in the ECHL this year but he may surprise some and play a full season in the AHL, especially if Marcinko heads to Europe.
